To receive the $10 discount patrons can do 1 or 2 things: bring a non-perishable food item to the Progress Energy Center Box Office or to Urban Ministries on Capital Blvd or enter code ‘URBAN’ when purchasing tickets to the Friday night performance. This offer cannot be combined with any other discounts or offers and may not be applied to previously purchased tickets.

Today is the day! Join us at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill to kick off the GetHeeled5k at promptly 9am! If you haven’t registered yet, its not too late! And don’t forget – the party doesn’t stop when the race is over! We also have a 1 mile family walk, a kids zone with lots of activities, on stage shows, tons of vendors, free food and music!

TRX Group Fitness Classes at O2 Fitness Seaboard

trxO2 Fitness @ Seaboard Station offers an explosion of FREE TRX demo’s Wednesday through Friday of this week for our Fall Into Fitness Member Appreciation Celebration.

It all kicks off this Wednesday September 28th:

Kinesis/TRX Fusion @ 6:30am with Gail Hall: Gail utilizes both TRX suspension training and our Kinesis wall in a cardio and strength training hybrid class.  Known as “Gail Force,” her small group training style is sure to knock the wind out of you.

TRX Introductory Class @ 12:00pm with Sandra Axman and Hunter Barham: This is a great chance to experience TRX training for the first time and get the technique down pat before advancing on to the harder group fitness classes.  With both Sandra and Hunter teaching the class, there will be plenty of corrective help and spotting available to participants.

TRX H.I.T. with Doug Haan @ 5:45pm: H.I.T. stands for High Intensity-Interval Training.  Basically Doug is going to “hit” you hard with TRX strength training mixed high intensity step cardio intervals.  This is the BEST way to burn the most calories possible in a short amount of time and get an explosive muscle pump all in the same!

Membership Appreciation Week @ O2 Fitness, NC’s Premier Health & Fitness Club!

Last week we celebrated Membership Appreciation Week at all of our locations across the Triangle and in Wilmington. Throughout the week, members and their guests were treated to free food, massages and even had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with O2 Fitness personal training experts. Local vendors, ranging from boutique clothing and jewelry stores to nutrition advisors, also stopped by several of our locations and provided members with wellness information, special offers and free product samples.

Our newest location in downtown Raleigh’s Seaboard Station hosted a fitness competition where members were encouraged to push to their physical extreme. At our Brennan location, our O2 experts hosted two clinics for the club’s new TRX suspension training program. And rumor has it that the Chick-fil-A cow was even spotted participating in the Zumba class at our Fuquay-Varina location and dancing to live tunes at our Falls/540 location!

10 Halloween Safety Tips

What could be more fun than dressing up in a costume, and eating free candy?  Halloween is a fun time for all but it also poses safety concerns for parents and children venturing out to trick-or-treat.  The CDC recommends these tips to keep you and your child safe this Halloween:

  1. Enter homes only if you’re with a trusted adult. Otherwise, stay outside.
  2. Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats unless you know the cook well.
  3. Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls.
  4. Only walk on sidewalks or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe.
  5. Lower your risk for serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact lenses.
  6. Always test make-up in a small area first. Remove it before bedtime to prevent skin and eye irritation.
  7. Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you.
  8. Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them. Limit the amount of treats you eat.
  9. Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
  10. Swords, knives, and similar costume accessories should be short, soft, and flexible.

The Run for the Gulf – Half Marathon

Many of you know Sophia Bush best for her character of Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill, filmed locally here in Wilmington, NC and you have probably seen her working out at the O2 Fitness Wilmington club. It’s not lost on any of us that she is a very talented actress; however, we are also learning she is more than just another pretty face in Hollywood.

We have always heard that Sophia donates a lot of her time and money into many non profit organizations. Well now she is doing it right here in Wilmington and giving us all a chance to get involved right along side of her!

Sophia is trying to raise awareness and money for the recent oil spill in the Gulf. She is currently organizing a group of people to run and be sponsored in a half marathon right here in Wilmington in November. So put all that energy and exercise you are doing towards a good cause. There are a few different ways you can help! You can get involved in the race and run with her, you can donate anything you can on her Crowdrise page or you can just re-blog this and help more people become aware of what she is doing. Bike to Work Week

Don’t worry guys, you still have a few days left to celebrate Bike to Work week!  This week
cities all over the country host activities to promote this fine form of transportation :)  Ride your bike to help your budget, waistline, and the environment.

If you don’t have a bicycle, come to O2 Fitness to celebrate.  Replace your regular
elliptical routine with some cycling to keep things fun and exciting.  Or you can try an RPM or O2 Ride class if you have not already! You could even just switch things up and try an early morning or evening class.

Even better, you could ride your bike to the gym!
